Angeil’s early career began inauspiciously at the National Film Theatre, where she usheretted throughout university; she was then asked to join the London Film Festival team where her multi-lingual background came in useful. Not content with just watching films Angeli got her first job in the industry for Wicked Films, and quickly moved to the First Film Foundation, where she became Head of Development and later Deputy Director. She then took over the filmmaking programme at a community funded film company Massive Videos where she made films with unemployed youngsters and then set up the Portobello Film Festival; the first ever open air film festival in Britain.
Angeli was then offered the role of heading up a new writer’s scheme at Pathé UK. The scheme produced Sara Sugarman’s first feature Very Annie Mary and co-developed another first feature with David Barron. Angeli also worked on other Pathé projects with directors Joe Wright, Nick Hamm and Lynne Ramsay.
Angeli was then asked by Robin Gutch at FilmFour, to be in charge of a programme to develop new writers and directors. In conjunction with Robin Gutch and producer Kate Ogborn, Angeli executive produced six short films by new writers and directors for Channel 4.
Angeli provides script and development consultation for Screen WM, EM Media, MEDIA Europe and for several independent production companies including Black Camel in Scotland and Sodalite in the Midlands.
Angeli is also one of the tutors of our NFTS/Script Factory Diploma in Script Development, Screenwriting Advisor to the London Film Academy and visiting lecturer at the Central School of Speech and Drama. She is a member of BAFTA and has served on the BAFTA short film jury four times.
