Martin Pope

The Heart of Me
Martin Pope began his career in film and television as a runner taking Faye Dunaway her lunch. He is now co-managing director of Magic Light Pictures together with Michael Rose.
Magic Light's most recent productions which Martin is jointly producing with Michael include The Gruffalo, a half hour animation of the much-loved children's classic; the comedy Wild Target directed by Jonathan Lynn with Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt, Rupert Grint, Martin Freeman and Rupert Everett; and Chico & Rita, an animated musical directed by Oscar winner Fernando Trueba with star designer Xavier Mariscal. Martin is also producing Glorious 39, a co-production with talkbackThames, written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff, with Romola Garai, Bill Nighy, Julie Christie, Jeremy Northam and Christopher Lee.
Previously Martin produced the award winning young director Paul Andrew Williams' film The Cottage, starring Andy Serkis, Reece Shearsmith and Jennifer Ellison. This vibrant comedy horror was released by Pathe in the UK and sold to Sony for the world.
Martin has made two films with writer/director team Neil Hunter and Tom Hunsinger' Lawless Heart (starring Bill Nighy) and Sparkle (starring Stockard Channing, Shaun Evans, and Bob Hoskins). Other features include Touch Of Pink (starring Jimi Mistry and Kyle Maclachlan), which sold worldwide to Sony Pictures Classics at Sundance; The Heart Of Me (starring Paul Bettany, Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Williams for Pathe UK and ThinkFilm); and Alive & Kicking (starring Antony Sher and Jason Fleming). In television he produced The Turn Of The Screw (starring Colin Firth and Jodhi May) for ITV and PBS.
Prior to running his own company Martin was a producer at BBC Films. While there producing credits included director John Madden's Meat and John Schlesinger's BAFTA-award-winning film of Alan Bennett's A Question Of Attribution.
