Anna Louise Shelton is a Fine Artist and Filmmaker living and working in the West Midlands. After completing a degree in Fine Art at the University of the West of England she went on to gain experience working on the sets of television productions as a set dresser. Here she gained insight into the craft of film making. Anna has completed a course in video production taught by Anne-Marie Sweeny, a well know documentary filmmaker. She has worked conceptually across the mediums of film, photography and fine art installations. Thematically though her work, she has explored ideas relating to architecture, domesticity and built environment.

Along with her own on-going Fine Art practice, she has Co-Directed a documentary about a derelict cinema cum bingo hall, Chandeliers, Cowboys and a White Mouse which tells the stories of the original projectionist and cinema patrons and was screened at OX DOX Film festival. Anna has experience working in a number of different roles within film, Sound, Camera, Art Director and most recently as a Production Designer.

Anna has been selected by Screen West Midlands with the project Trolley

Trolley is the tale of a Birmingham boy called Lenny who works at the supermarket as a Trolley pusher. This is the story of a boy on the precipice between adolescence and manhood grappling with his everyday life circumstances. The film invites us to experience a day in the life of his mind, as we go on a journey into his psyche and experience the fine line that exists in all of us between reality and our imaginations. Lenny is at risk of becoming a reclusive boy whose only way of escape is to retract into his own imagination, until events coincide to bring him out of his fantasy world and give him the confidence he needs to interact with the people around him.
To be shot in Birmingham, this visually intriguing film will use a subtle peppering of stylised animation and real life sets and costumes - juxtaposing bleakly beautiful everyday environments, with extraordinary fantasy sequences.
