“I have been writing for my own personal pleasure for most of my life but have been writing ‘seriously’ for screen for the last four years. During that time I have completed two one-off dramas, the first episode of a serial drama, a short radio play and a handful of short film scripts. My last project No lady was a 15 minute drama observing a moment in the life of a young woman post-breast cancer, and the relationships she forms with both her own self-image and others as a consequence of her illness. This was commissioned by EM Media in June 2009 and was subsequently filmed in Leicester in late August 2009. I am currently in the process of development with the short film Pork.”
Sally-Anne has been shortlisted by EM Media with the project Pork.
Pork is a 15 minute drama that invites us into a dual-heritage family unit which is tarnished by cultural barriers and domestic violence. Increasingly frustrated by the cultural differences that impact so greatly upon their relationship and the subsequent failed attempts to overcome them, my main characters’ lives have spiralled into a cycle of torment and domestic violence, witnessed only by their teenaged, dual-heritage child, Junior. Inadvertently absorbed and manipulated by his environment, Junior will eventually sacrifice the close relationship he shares with his Father, in order to save his Mother from both mental and physical injury.
