Session 1 - 11am–1pm
DIGITAL AND TRADITIONAL: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
Using clips and practical demonstrations, this session focuses on the pros and cons of digital technology in filmmaking, and explores how to use your imagination to advance microbudget ideas. Session leader Mike Figgis will also run through an essential checklist for new digital directors, which includes the importance of getting coverage.
The session will be rounded off with a Q&A with Mike that will aim to discuss his experience of moving from shorts to features.
Session 2 - 2-3.30pm
SCENE BY SCENE
This workshop session uses a sample scene either drawn from the Mike's own back catalogue or from a work that he has been inspired by to explore choices around:
• Script
• Performance
• Art direction
• Camera direction
• Sound
Mike will invite participants to comment before discussing his actual choices in the final cut.

Session 3 - 3.45–5.30pm
CINEMATOGRAPHY
Mike will talk specifically about technical aspects of filming and working digitally using scene by scene breakdowns from his own work.
