Carolina Giammetta

Working together with Schuman Hoque, Carolina has worked on numerous projects including producing, directing, editing and screening (NFT) over forty ‘very no budget’. As a team, Carolina writes, they both direct and produce their films . Before, After and After That (24 mins) a beautiful quirky love story was followed by Not Coming In distributed by SHORTS INTERNATIONAL, nominated for THE ANTONY MINGELLA AWARD at Glimmer ’09 OFFICAL SELECTION for RUSHES SOHO SHORTS FESTIVAL (Nominated Best Short). Last year they made ODDINARY PEOPLE a half hour character comedy film, Ornamental (Longlisted for Virgin Media Shorts) & Time of the Month both made in association with Spool films. Schuman has directed/edited many short films and music videos and Carolina has written numerous plays, shorts films and radio plays and as an actress worked on films with Mike Leigh, Roger Mitchell, Jim Loach, Julian Jarrold as well as work for the stage and TV.

Papa
Sophia (19yr old, student) goes to work in savoury pie factory with her Italian father Edwardo (60’s), over the Christmas holidays to earn some extra money. Uneasy with her relationship with her father, she drags her heels walking into the factory, riddled with embarrassment and shame at having to work along side her father. Edwardo is firm about how hard she will have to work for her money but also enjoys trying to impress her with his popularity and jokes with the factory workers as they walk through the factory. Toni, another worker in his late 20’s, gets irritated by Edwardo and his ways and use’s Sophia to get at him. What starts as Edwardo protecting his daughter, ends in a violent attack on Edwardo which propels Sophia to leap to his rescue and defend her father by knocking Toni out. The event changes their father daughter relationship forever.
