Kara Miller's How to Make Friends heads to Berlin

Mon, 6 Dec 2004

Success is creeping up on two former members of The Script Factory Writers’ Group as they see their films taking pride of place in the selection for both upcoming Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals.

Alex Rose and Kara Miller both spent a year as part of our Script Factory Writers’ Group (Kara in 2003, Alex in 2004), enjoying privileged access to a series of masterclasses laid on by The Script Factory.

From Thomas Vinterberg to David Hare, the pair found themselves face to face with some of the international industry’s brightest creative screenwriting talents. Clearly some of what they heard rubbed off as it was announced this week that two of Kara’s short films and the debut feature film written by Alex will be unveiled on an international festival stage this Spring.

Heading for Sundance as the only Brit film in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition section, On a Clear Day was produced by Sarah Curtis, exec produced by Dorothy Berwin and directed by Gaby Dellal. The film stars Peter Mullan and Brenda Blethyn. Peter Mullan takes the lead in <i>On A Clear Day</i> from a script by Alex Rose
