Join BAFTA to talk TV adaptation

Wuthering Heights
Tue, 30 Jun 2009
Having previously brought us bold TV adaptations of Chaucer and Shakespeare, as well as outstanding original dramas including Blackpool, Flesh and Blood and most recently Occupation, writer Peter Bowker has now taken on one of the most challenging narratives in English literature, Wuthering Heights, adapting this classic text for a contemporary ITV audience.
With its sprawling narrative, psychologically complex characters and anthropomorphic landscapes, Peter and the production team faced huge challenges in delivering an adaptation that met the demanding expectations of a TV audience, stayed true to the integrity and tone of the original text and of course came within budget.
Now in a special event organised by BAFTA you get the chance to hear the production team discuss their approaches to the drama and to see a sneak preview of the two-parter starring Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley as Heathcliff and Cathy.
The panel, chaired by Matthew Sweet, features Director of Drama for ITV Laura Mackie, Peter Bowker, director Coky Giedroyc, academic Elaine Showalter and actor Charlotte Riley.
We have a pair of tickets up for grabs for this event if you can tell us which recent high profile Sky1 drama also starred Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley.
Send us your answers by noon on Friday 3 July to general@scriptfactory.co.uk and please put WUTHERING in your subject line.
