42 year old mother of two, Alison Penton Harper worked in advertising for twenty years before being discovered through a publishing competition on the Richard & Judy show. Her first novel, Housewife Down, reached the Times bestseller list, and she was offered a further two book deal by Pan Macmillan. The second in the Housewife series will be published this September. ‘I always assumed I’d start writing in earnest once the kids were grown,’ she said. ‘But now seems as good a time as any.’ Alison lives in rural Northamptonshire with her husband and children and is currently working on her third novel.
