What We Do
WIRELESS & BOUNDLESS: A Radio Drama Project

We've formed a brand new partnership with BBC Radio Drama, and are delighted to announce a new project providing a unique opportunity for writers to re-think their ideas and develop real opportunities to be produced on BBC Radio 4.
Radio drama is a fantastic medium; it has the ability to transport the listener to other worlds, to other cultures, and to introduce characters we may never otherwise meet. And, as drama, it creates powerful emotional dilemmas to which we can relate and like all good writing, it can pull focus from another perspective enriching our understanding of life.
The even better news is that a great idea for radio - one that plays to the strengths of the medium, takes the listener on a compelling journey and makes the commissioners sit up and take notice, won’t be ignored - actually has a great chance of getting commissioned. BBC Radio Drama is the biggest commissioner of new writing across any medium: every year, hundreds of hours of new drama are commissioned and broadcast, of which a sizeable amount is by writers new to the medium. Once commissioned, each play goes out to significant audiences - every day, around 700,000 people listen to Radio 4’s Afternoon Play.
Now, BBC Radio Drama and The Script Factory have teamed up to present Wireless & Boundless, an opportunity for screenwriters to gain knowledge and practical skills in writing drama for radio with a unique chance to pitch to direct to the commissioners!
Wireless & Boundless is an Information Day which will take place on Thursday 7 June from 2-5pm at The Script Factory in Central London.
During the day, Radio 4 Drama Commissioner, Jeremy Howe, Head of BBC Radio Drama, Alison Hindell, and Producer Sam Hoyle, will illuminate the creative and practical process of writing for radio, followed by a chance to quiz them further over informal drinks. Writers attending the day will then be invited to pitch a written idea for a radio play from which 6 will be short-listed and those writers invited to attend a BBC Radio Drama Masterclass on 1 & 2 August, in the BBC HQ at Bush House in Central London, with the opportunity to make a short drama.
