Angeli Macfarlane
Angeli is the Head of Development for the Borough Picture Company. Borough’s first notable success was Death Of A President, which won the Best Film Emmy in 2007. Borough has a reputation for factual based dramatic storytelling and is currently in production on Little Matador, a feature documentary for More4 about children bullfighters. Angeli is also working with writer John Brownlow (Sylvia, and soon to be made Captain Blood), novelist Jake Arnott (He Kills Coppers) and writer Nathan Parker (Moon) on original scripts for Borough. Borough also works with Element Pictures in Ireland and Angeli has recently provided development support on Element’s projects: The Guard by John McDonagh, Sole Trader by Lennie Abrahamson and The Intriguing Art of Secrets by novelist Cecilia Ahearn.
Before joining Borough Angeli worked for FilmFour, in charge of a programme to develop new writers and directors. In 2002, in conjunction with Robin Gutch (now Warp Pictures), Angeli executive produced six short films by new writers and directors for Channel 4. Prior to that Angeli spent three years at Pathé UK, heading up a new writer’s scheme, working with Lynne Ramsay, Nick Hamm and Joe Wright. Angeli was also co-founder of the Portobello Film Festival, Deputy Director of the First Film Foundation, PR assistant at the London Film Festival and Usherette at the National Film Theatre.
She provides script and development consultation for Screen WM, EM Media, MEDIA Europe and occasionally individual writers and directors. Angeli is also one of the tutors of the NFTS/Script Factory Diploma in Script Development, Screenwriting Advisor to the London Film Academy and visiting lecturer at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
