David Newbigging
David Newbigging came from a background in community filmmaking and illustration. Last year he directed the Digi Short Kick About for GMAC and Scottish Screen, which is being screened at the Rome Independent Film Festival in April. He has just finished the short documentary The Catman of Greenock, for Current UK, which will be broadcast sometime in 2008.
David has been selected onto the Digital Shorts Scheme with the project Eyes on the Street
Eyes on the Street is the story of Dougie McClellan - a no nonsense Community Warden with delusions of grandeur. Dougie wants to be a cop and clean the scum off the streets, much to the annoyance of his less interested partner, Mark. As Dougie awaits news of his police application, a documentary team cover his last day as a Community Warden. Will Dougie realise before it’s too late that he’s just not up for the job?
