Priya Joshi

Priya Joshi is an established journalist and writer with fifteen years experience of working in the media in a broad range of capacities.
 
As a freelance journalist, she has interviewed acclaimed personalities from the worlds of film, TV, politics, music and the arts, regularly contributing feature articles to publications including Marie Claire, The Big Issue, Hello! Magazine, Cineworld Unlimited, Select, News on the Block, The BT EMMA’s, AOL and India Today International amongst others. She is an established features writer providing cover stories with international celebrities.
 
Specialising in world cinema she has served as the resident film reviewer for BBC Movies online and Filmfour and has edited two 60,000 word film based publications for EMG publishers. A regular attendee and reporter at the Cannes Film Festival, Priya has established strong ties with the international film community and in 2009 her work was published in The Film Review Yearbook, the definitive annual film guide.
 
During this time, Priya has been independently developing her script writing skills. She twice reached the final shortlist for the Channel Four Film Challenge for two ten-minute scripts entitled Dressed to Kill and Generation X. Priya has subsequently developed scripts for several shorts including, The Noise, Another Saturday Night, The Parkand White.
 
Writing for the stage, she received favourable reviews from the Theatre Royal Stratford-East for her stage plays, entitled Freedom's Children and The Death of Archie Jindal. Priya has since completed her first novel entitled The Third Child.
 
Priya also has an extensive background in TV and film production. After winning a prestigious traineeship with Anglia Television, she has worked as a news reporter, presenter, production manager and producer. Under the aegis of Take Away productions she has worked on short films for the BBC, Anglia Television and Channel Four as well as serving as a second A.D. on a feature production for Short Fish Films entitled Beginner's Luck starring Julie Delphi. She has scripted three features entitled Pal (Moment), Sing! and All for Love… which is currently in development.
 
In 2009, Priya was selected as a participant in a mentoring programme, in conjunction with an international investment bank. She has consistently used her journalistic skills to support a range of charities including Pratham International and Oxfam and is highly committed to her work for a nationwide domestic violence organization.
 
Fluent in Russian, Hindi and Punjabi, Priya Joshi is a highly versatile and accomplished journalist and writer.
