International TV Drama Programme For Directors

Caption

With the rise of digital technology, the demand for quality content, across the world, is at an all time high. As a result increasingly television programming is finding an audience beyond the borders of the country in which it is first made.

UK broadcasters are known the world over for the quality of their output and for nurturing the writing, producing and directing talent that make it. Many of our most talented, innovative and creative writers, producers and directors first honed their skills by developing stories for the small screen and continue to do so. By drawing on this heritage we are now able to design programmes for industry professionals, that specifically examine the processes and practices involved in developing and making captivating drama for the small screen.

Our most recent programme for television combined sessions focused on the specific skills and creative processes involved in developing television drama concepts with a parallel programme dedicated to examining the specific of directing for television.

Drawing on the immense experience of established directors in the UK we have created a structured programme to lead participants to consider best practice in the three key aspects of any television creation; pre-production, production and post-production.

From sessions exploring how to break down a script in pre-production, to casting and working with actors, from achieving the shoot to managing the assembly in post we have taken the same industry and process focused sensibility present in all our story training and applied this to the latter stages of bringing a TV drama to life.

This bespoke programme was designed for the Interschool, part of the Ukrainian Independent TV-corporation in Kiev.

Please email lucy@scriptfactory.co.uk if you would like to discuss staging a workshop in your country.

DAY 3
POST PRODUCTION; IT'S NOT YET OVER...IT GOES ON AND ON UNTIL THE END...THE PICTURE EDIT

On the final day participants will be both mentally and practically prepared for the vital final stages in of the process; post production. Close examination will be made of the technical processes involved in both the picture and sound edit, establishing collaborative relationships with editors and sound designers and strategies for handling the emotional process of showing a first cut and handling feedback from your first audience in a way that is always professional and constructive.
