Matthew Cooke
Matthew Cooke (working with Vincent Lund) is one of two Midlands-based filmmakers. Their credits include short films shown at Cannes and Edinburgh, work on ITV, BBC, C4 and a host of cable channels no-one watches. They’ve edited games adverts and music videos shown on MTV, and designed websites for plethora of companies and artists. Matt and Vince are part-time lecturers of Media at Coventry’s City College, and are currently pitching a slate of TV half hour comedies they’ve developed. Vince hates the lines of boats you get in fishing villages, while Matt gets angry when people steal food off his plate after he’s offered to buy them their own food and they refused. They both really like filmmaking, and whoever is reading this.
Matthew and Vince have been selected onto the Digital Shorts Scheme by Screen West Midlands with the project Arthur’s Lore
Freewheeling petty thief Arthur is a law unto himself. His girl, his mates and his local boozer are all he’s ever needed – until a fateful stabbing changes his life forever. Suddenly he’s the saviour of Britain, an ancient knight reincarnated to fight the monstrous horrors of Dark Lore.
Arthur and his gang tackle the beautiful yet deadly Banshees, whose eerie cry can steal your soul. But is there a hidden danger closer to home?
Hurling the legend of King Arthur into the modern day, this fantasy action adventure combines old myth with contemporary humour and our love for all things spooky. King Arthur has returned to vanquish evil – only no one told Arthur!
