Andy Fraser
Andy Fraser is a Director, Producer, Writer and Sound Recordist from Manchester.
His filmmaking career began in 2001 when he wrote and produced a short called Super Davie Buscombe, a ten-minute comedy about a football fan betrayed by his idol. The film was short-listed for the Kodak Short Film Showcase and went on to achieve many high-profile cinema and television screenings.
In 2006, he wrote and produced the 15-second short, Stormtrooper, that reached the finals of that year’s Nokia Shorts competition. It’s longer sister film, After the Storm, is currently doing the rounds in cyberspace. At present, Andy is editing the short documentary, Nearly There, that he shot and directed.
Aside from making short films, Andy travels the globe wearing headphones and pointing microphones at people. He also occasionally writes about football and is frequently disappointed by the performances of his beloved Macclesfield Town F.C.
Andy has been selected onto the Digital Shorts Scheme by North West Vision with the project Neighbourhood
Neighbourhood, a ten-minute film, is the story of Walter, a seemingly lonely and vulnerable man who moves into a problem estate and is subjected to a campaign of victimization and intimidation by a notorious gang of local thugs. However, as the bullying and violence intensifies it becomes apparent that there is more to Walter than meets the eye.
Inspired by early Coen Brothers (Blood Simple, Fargo) and Shane Meadow’s Dead Man’s Shoes, Neighbourhood is a dark and edgy black comedy. A fizzing cocktail of gritty drama, social realism, revenge thriller and conspiracy theory laced with black humour and a timely political subtext.
