This film is a con story at heart. The central character of the story, Angus, is a broken man who believes he has done a terrible thing and consequently the woman he thought he loved has disappeared. She was eastern European and had come over to this country to work and find a husband. Drunk and disoriented one night, he meets a charismatic blind stranger who tells him he knows what happened to the girl. He leads Angus to a dark and disused lake and tells him that the girl is dead and her body is in there. Whether he knows this though supernatural means or prior knowledge is unclear to Angus and the viewer. Angus breaks down and promises to make reparations for a deed that he believes he was responsible for. The final twist sees the stranger meet up with a woman who has been watching these events unfold from the shadows. She is the missing girl and it is clear that the stranger works for her. They discuss their next victim.
