John Giwa-Amu
John produced the feature film Little White Lies which was nominated at the British Independent Film Awards. He has had eight BAFTA Cymru nominations, winning three, been nominated for the Screen Nation Award twice and has won the BBC New Filmmaker Award.
In 2008 the UK Film Council chose John as an honouree of the Breakthrough Brits scheme to represent UK's Black and Asian talent in Los Angeles. He finished producing eight short films for the BBC in Jan 2010.
John has been shortlisted by the Welsh Film Agency for his project The Stranger.
The Stranger
An illegal immigrant called NARGES makes a living by busking with a traditional Iranian instrument called a Santur. People drop coins into her cup but no one seems to notice her, except a handsome stranger called CHARLIE. Charmed by his kind smile, Narges begins to dream of a life with him. One night as she walks home she sees someone trying to frame Charlie for a murder. Without thinking Narges risks everything she has to clear his name, but as a result she makes herself the prime suspect.
