We’re delighted to be joining new partners, Irish language broadcaster TG4 together with Northern Ireland Screen's Irish Language Broadcast Fund & BBC NI, in helping to stage a new Scriptwriting Development scheme for new or experienced Irish language writers starting this Autumn. There are up to six places available to Irish speaking writers interested in writing drama for television who will take part in a training scheme over a 6-month period featuring workshops and mentoring from key industry professionals.

Our regular TV trainer, Alison Lumb, will be heading for Belfast to run workshops covering subjects including story arcs, story structure, character development, dialogue, tone, pace, and broadcaster requirements, alongside a series of individual surgeries. The end goal will be 6 x 25’ polished scripts ready for production for possible broadcast on TG4 & BBC NI.

To take part in the scheme, applicants should have an idea for a single half hour drama based around the theme ‘Stigma’. The story should have a contemporary setting and also be set in a realistic situation where Irish would be spoken.

To apply, please submit:

• a cover letter outlining why you should attend this course
• your CV
• a one-sentence description of the story
• a paragraph outlining the story, details of main characters
• a one scene script

Please note that this course is directed at Northern Ireland-based writers who are fluent in Irish.

Send your applications (by email and hard copy) to:
