Alongside training and writing screenplays, Helen is currently studying at University of the Arts London for a PhD about the Hollywood screenwriting theories of Vogler and McKee, and how they relate to writing with a female protagonist. For The Script Factory, Helen teaches Writing the Heroine's Story, an intensive workshop which next appears on Friday 28 & Saturday 29 January, designed to help screenwriters and development professionals grapple with the creation of unique, compelling and emotionally complex female protagonists. Illustrated with up to the minute examples from contemporary cinema, and delivered in a lively lecture-style programme together with opportunities for participants to break out into smaller groups, the course is an excellent chance to discover new techniques and apply them to your own work.
