Cherry Cookson
Cherry Cookson worked for over 30 years as a staff Senior Radio Drama Producer in the BBC, winning many national and international awards for her work, and on behalf of her writers. She is currently a freelance independent Radio Drama producer and director.
Cherry has taught both acting and creative writing at a number of universities, and since leaving the BBC has returned to produce two plays herself for BBC Radio 4. She will also be recording a play in Autumn 2010 for on-line distribution, and is actively looking for new playwrights to encourage and work with. She has produced several unabridged audio books, and is an experienced script editor. She has coached actors and taught Radio Acting and Creative Writing to second year students and post-graduates at two leading Drama Schools. She served as guest lecturer on the MA Screenwriting Course at Aberystwyth University.
Alongside her work as a producer she write critical reports on radio plays for the Literary Consultancy Agency, has written numerous pieces of journalism as well as script editing many plays and prose.
