Dave Hunt
David was born in Barnsley, South Yorkshire and would fight to the death in honour of the much-maligned mushy pea. He came to the world of film-making via rock and roll: for many years he was a drummer in an incredibly unsuccessful Goth-rock band.
He then lay down his drumsticks and studied at the NFTS, where he wrote and directed his short film Playing Dead. The film was screened and won prizes at many major festivals throughout 2004 and 2005. More recently, he directed four short films about children’s journeys to school for Ch4’s 3 Minute Wonder strand. He is currently writing a sci-fi feature film for the UKFC in association with Warp X.
Dave has been selected onto the Digital Shorts Scheme with the project Cartrouble
Cartrouble is a story about a woman who goes for a drive with a man. They have fun, but then a life or death situation presents itself and their reactions expose how fundamentally different they are.
Cartrouble is an ordinary story about a man and a woman at conflicting and different stages of their lives. It addresses and reminds us of those pivotal moments in time/life, where we are forced to contend with reality and choose.
Confronted by life or death – initially facing the life or death of her own child, and then metaphorically with a rabbit hit by their car – the Woman is forced to reevaluate her position and direction in life. Victim of her own desires and hopes of an ideal; deluded by an unfulfilling relationship, she drifts along until almost unexpectedly she is forced to take action and finally accept responsibility.
