“When I was a kid we fed a small boy a tic-tac and told him it wasn’t a sweet, it was the pill and in the morning he’d wake up with a pair of tits. We thought we were hilarious. Years later, the memory got me thinking about homemade sex-changes and out of this, the story of Clifford and his family emerged.

The search for identity can be very long and very painful. For some, true courage is the only answer to finding your true self. Clifford has the courage but his father did not. Clifford believes his mother will be heartbroken by the news but she is glad because, unlike his father, Clifford has saved himself.

The film will be colourful, contemporary, very honest, very funny and very tragic and I have thought about the films of Almodovar, Fellini and, of course, Bollywood movies in the approach to making the film; a colourful look, brash music and hard cutting technique with characters who are unafraid of getting to the point and openly expressing themselves."
