Jane Helliwell

Jane has an M.A. in screenwriting and specialize in comedy feature films. Her first short film was called Bad Day and was made on the Caught Short Focus Scheme by Screen Yorkshire which she took to the Cannes Film Festival in 2007, where it was in the short film corner. At the 22nd Leeds International Film Festival in 2008, Jane won 1st prize for a feature film idea at the 'Pitch Perfect' competition and wit bought a ticket to America with the prize money. In 2009 she attended the LA Femme Film Festival in Hollywood and conferences held at the Writers’ Guild of America. She also spent three weeks in Texas researching her latest script idea. Jane is a candidate member of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain.
Jane is working with Screen Yorkshire on the project Meeting Charlie.
Meeting Charlie is a short comedy film set in Filey and Scarborough in 1993. Melissa is a grieving art student who is struggling to come to terms with the death of her sister. She meets Charlie, a tramp who loves his freedom but because he couldn’t balance his life and chose to jump out, has an obsession with balancing on things. During their encounter Charlie accidentally, swallows Melissa’s locket with a picture of her sister in and ends up in the hospital. They are bound together for the next four days until it is time for Melissa to go home.
