Scrubs star Zach Braff joins us in the run up to SCENE

Don't miss the pre-SCENE preview of Garden State with Natalie Portman and Zach Braff
Thu, 14 Oct 2004
As a warm up to our four days of events at the Curzon Soho, we’ll be co-hosting a preview screening of Zach Braff’s hilarious comedy, Garden State with BAFTA on Mon 25 October.
Braff made his name in hit television series Scrubs, and here makes his writing and directing debut in this entirely fresh and tender comedy about 20-something ennui. With nods to The Graduate and Beautiful Girls, Garden State sees moderately successful actor Andrew ‘Large’ Largeman, head home from Los Angeles for his mother’s funeral in New Jersey. He’s intending to get in and out with the minimum fuss, or engagement with his estranged father, but life gets more complicated when he bumps into old stoner friends (Peter Sarsgaard) and meets Sam (Natalie Portman), a girl who refuse to let him get by that easily.
With a brilliant soundtrack that includes The Shins and Coldplay, Garden State has received rave reviews in the US and was a surprise hit at the box office. This preview screening and extended Q&A is your chance to hear Braff talk about the film, ahead of its release later this year!
The event will be held at Odeon Covent Garden on Monday 25 October, doors open at 6.30 and the screening starts at 7pm (£10/£8 concession or members).
Tickets are going fast, call the Odeon Box Office to book on 0871 22 44 007
"It's a hilarious and heartfelt ode to twentysomething angst."
-- Peter Travers, ROLLING STONE
"A mash note to love that will speak to Generation Y as powerfully as The Graduate did to the Boomers nearly forty years ago."
-- Marc Savlov, AUSTIN CHRONICLE
