Looking for a writer?
The Script Factory comes into contact with a vast range of writers at different stages in their career, and sees an enormous number of feature screenplays.
Our knowledge of these writers and their projects means we have a huge resource which can be of use to development personnel and producers. We may well know the writer or the project you are looking for.
Writers contact us for a number of reasons but the ones we know best - and the ones we can recommend to you - are those who have taken part on one of our long-term training programmes, or who we are working on a one to one basis with.
New in 2010, She Writes is a flagship programme in which a group of 10 women screenwriters is enjoying a year of development and support. The programme is jointly staged by The Script Factory together with Birds Eye View, and supported by Skillset and Scottish Screen. For the last four years we have been involved with a large number of new filmmakers selected annually from across the UK to make a Digital Short film. Each of them also attended Digi Shorts Training with The Script Factory as part of their selection. You can read about the filmmakers here.
Skillset's Writers' Circle - an initiative which ran throughout 2006 was designed to tempt experienced and successful writers from other fields and persuade them to try their hand at screenwriting. The group included Toby Young, Moira Buffini and Meg Rossoff. Click here to read about the eight multi-award-winning novelists, playwrights, and radio and TV writers who formed the Writers' Circle.
Writers' Passage was a flagship Programme - part-funded by the UK Film Council - which took nine feature projects on a nine month journey involving actor workshops, mentors and industry connections. The programme had three intakes in London from 2002-04, and subsequently transferred to the West Midlands for a further two intakes in 2005.
The Script Factory Writers' Group was a second UK Film Council-funded programme which gave 30 writers per year access to Script Factory Masterclasses from 2003-6.
