Vanessa Caswill
Vanessa recently won a 4Talent award for her latest short film Pudding Bowl, marking her as one of the hottest young talents of 2008. Her film has screened at numerous international festivals as well as earning her a Best visual film award and a best film overall award. She moved from theatre to film 2 years ago when she wrote and directed her first short in Australia on 35mm, starring Sam Worthington (the lead in James Cameron's next film Avatar). Since then she has written and directed projects on 16mm, super8mm, and shot a promotional fragrance video for Unilever. Vanessa is currently in pre-production for up and coming band Revere's next music video.
Vanessa has been selected onto the Digital Shorts Scheme with the project The Fishdance Kid
The Fishdance Kid has been commissioned by the Screen South & UK Film Council New Cinema Fund Digital Shorts scheme for the Close Up slot. The Fishdance Kid is a comedy about a woman who, through a series of flashbacks and fantasies, finally recognises that she is stuck in a dead-end relationship and needs to seize the opportunity to move on, however inconvenient the timing may be.
