Matt Freeth
From an early age, Matt Freeth taught himself filmmaking techniques by making countless short films with the ambition of one day directing movies. He graduated in Film at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. In 2002, he began directing music videos, approaching bands and offering to make videos with minimal budgets. This gave him the opportunity to hone his skills. Establishing himself to make energetic and well thought out concept videos this new direction brought him to Collision Films. Matt worked with larger budgets and took on many different roles for both promos and commercials. In 2006, Matt directed Boy Who Ran Away for Mystery Jets. It reached Number 1 in the MTV2 charts and stayed at the top for 1 month, appearing in the most popular videos of 2006. With this success Matt now works with Radical Media where he continues to direct music videos. In 2008, Digital Shorts has chosen Matt’s short film to be made, continuing his ambition to direct features.
Matt has been selected onto the Digital Shorts scheme by South West Screen with the project Luke & The Void
Based in 1986, Luke & The Void is a live action sci-fi film about Luke, an independent and determined nine-year-old boy. At school, Luke has problems fitting in. At home, his parents’ relationship is falling apart. They have pushed him aside as they focus on themselves.
Luke however, has thought of a plan. Outside in the garden he is building his escape.
