Frances Cooper had always assumed his father would die before his mother. Imagine his surprise, one cold November morning, when his father phoned to say his mother was dead. He said sorry, hung up the phone, brushed his teeth, showered, dressed, made himself a cup of tea and then it hit him: his mother was dead.
He cried into his cornflakes.
Emily Maddison had never thought she would be the woman responsible for ending anybody's life. However as she passed some parked cars in her own little car somebody's face hit her windscreen. She applied her foot to the brake, pulled up the handbrake, put the car into neutral, turned off the ignition, undid he seatbelt and got out of the car. There was an actual dead body right by her feet.
She didn't really know what to do.
Craig MacKay always believed his girlfriend dismissing him for his lack of responsibility was nonsense until he opened his garage door to find he had locked his cat inside and that it was now dead.
He opened some windows.
