Gary Williams
Gary Williams first started in the industry as a Camera assistant worked his way up to Head of the Camera Department and Director of Photography at Mersey Television for 6 years before becoming a freelance Director of Photography. Gary moved seamlessly to working solely as a director, greatly helped by his strong interpersonal skills when dealing with actors and production staff on all levels. Gary approaches scripts with sensitivity and care and Gary’s visual flair lifts the story off the page

The Swimming Man
Based on the writer’s grandfather’s experiences as a young man during the depression in Glasgow. A strong swimmer, he was paid to dive into the Clyde & bring the bodies of the suicides to the surface. His life was defined by water, he swam daily. As his body started to fail him he found comfort in the fluidity of moving through water. The film to convey a mans personal decay & possibility of beauty against the political & social decay of an inner city landscape & the industry he gave his life to...the docks.
