Maria Forsstrom
Originally from Finland, Maria Forsstrom moved to the UK in 2004 to study Film and Media. She graduated in 2006 and joined Newcastle- based production company Vita Nova Films, which she now runs with her business partner Steve Bowden. Vita Nova Films has produced several short films, a cross-platform project and Prima Primavera(2008), a feature film directed by Janos Edelenyi. In 2009 Maria produced 3 short films for the UK Film Council and is currently developing Vita Nova Films' feature film slate and producing the Digital Short Invertebrate.
Maria has been selected by Northern Film & Media for her project Invertebrate.
Invertebrate shows us the complex machinations of a day in the city of the insects. Witness first hand the fight for survival and the unlikely co-operation these beautiful beasts display. Shot in a scale model of a human city, the man-size creatures display incredible humanity in their dramatic stories within their alien caste system.
