Blair Barnette is a Nottingham-based production designer, recently turned producer and head of newly-formed sabrewing films Ltd. As an artist, her signature rich and saturated style has helped craft visuals for MTV and Nickelodeon, well-known programmes such as Heroes and Sesame Street and a variety of artists including OutKast and the illustrator Edward Gorey. With the formation of sabrewing she hopes to develop promising stories, to extend her detailed 'mise en scene' approach into the filmmaking process and maintaining a visual identity throughout. Last year Blair worked across seven different regional shorts made by EM Media, Screen Yorkshire and London's Pulse scheme including This Chair is Not Me produced jointly with Tina Pawlik. Currently she is in production with a period short commissioned by the Derby Quad scheme.

Blair has been commissioned by EM Media for the project Ken's Wake by Darren Robinson

Ken's Wake by Darren Robinson
Reaching the tender age of 70 this year Ken Beasley knows he doesn't have too much time left. Despite his sisters' protests he has resolved to flout tradition and host his own wake while he is still alive. For Ken it is a simple calculation - why on earth should there be a party in his name without him being there enjoying it? With family and old friends gather we see a sketch of a popular and charismatic man but a man, all the same, who has caused as much pain as happiness.
