David Cave
Middlesbrough born filmmaker David Cave studied film & television at the University of Ripon & York St. John, graduating in 2000, before returning to his native North East. David has worked on a number of British and international feature films including The One and Only - Dir. Simon Cellan Jones - and The Skulls - Dir. Rob Cohen - and television productions including BBC Zenith North’s Byker Grove and ITV’s Wire in the Blood as well as numerous commercials and short films. Since then David has written and directed a number of no-budget shorts, all of which have been selected for screening at numerous International film festivals and in 2003 completed his first NFMO/Film Council funded digital short.
David has been selected by Northern Film & Media with the project Dystopia St .
Dystopia St. is a fantastical story set in a world caught between subconsciousness and reality. A world where meaning and logic are forgotten and distortion and nightmare are the central forces around which everything else revolves. Inspired by the work of Cronenberg and Lynch, the narrative follows the voyage of one man as he attempts to unravel the mystery of his plight, haunted throughout his journey by his darkest fears made physical. A mixture of live action and CGI, Dystopia St. is a visually extreme and challenging story, filled with an equal amount of subtlety and complexity and guaranteed to ask of its audience as many questions as offer answers.
