Joe Barcham
Joe has been actively involved in the film industry for the past three years, both writing/directing short films and also working on Midlands based features and shorts, usually in an AD capacity but also within the Art Department.
His Super 16mm short film Peterson and Peterson recently reached the final 25 films considered for completion funding by MayaVision Int., and he has also just received a grant of £3000 as part of the QUAD shorts scheme for his project Heartland, co-written with Liam Sharp.
Joe is eager to use 2010 as a keystone year in which to produce a number of high quality shorts with a definite view to progress to feature level in the next 2 years.
This is Joe’s first year on the DV Shorts scheme.
He also plays the guitar, badly.
Joe has been shortlisted by EM MEDIA with the project Burn It Down.
Mikey, a young and intensely political punk, is tested to the limits of his emotional and mental capacity when he crosses paths with a violent and increasingly resilient fascist.
As the night draws in, Mikey loses hold on the humanity and political integrity he lives by as the fascist boy becomes a cipher for everything Mikey despises, until the division between the two becomes blurred, and Mikey loses control with devastating and extreme consequences for the boy.
Burn It Down is a treatise on anger and control, examining the unspoken nature of everyone to lose control and self-destruct.
