Dom Rowe
Dom Rowe studied Scriptwriting for Film & TV at Bournemouth University before moving into the Bristol theatre scene. His play, A Great Undertaking in Little America, was shortlisted for the 2007 Amnesty International and Ice & Fire Theatre playwriting competition and received a hat-trick of four star reviews when it toured Bristol, London and Cheltenham. He has since gone on to showcase work at the Bristol Old Vic Main Stage (Theatre:24), Studio (Dying Breed) and the Tobacco Factory Theatre (Eddie King's Non-Refundable Tour of the Lost Souls). Film work includes being shortlisted for the 2010 iFeatures initiative and Digital Shorts. Dom Rowe has a keen eye for capturing the absurd from the dramatic.
Dom has been shortlisted by South West Screen with the project Small Talk.
Small Talk is a story about communication and imagination, told via a mute girl's quest to regain her widowed father's imagination. Eva is a ten year old mute who has been charged with communicating with the outside world for her agoraphobic dad, using a bulky tape-deck which hangs around her neck. When a friendly, female neighbour invites them to a 'meet and greet' for the tower block, Eva sees an opportunity to play cupid. Mustering all the bravery she can, she enters a low-fi fantasy world of her own imagining in order to complete her quest.
