Cherry Williams
Cherry is a scriptwriter, communications specialist, graphic designer, copywriter and photographer by trade - all skills she utilises in her film work. Having a creative eye, studied art, designed for fashion shows, worked in a theatre lighting team, coupled with a love of 'old movies' has led to stylistic elements creeping into her work and led to a natural sideline in art direction. Previous advertising and journalistic work have also added to her experience. Cherry is currently working on her second novel and has a number of projects in progress with her writing partner Emma Cole and in collaboration with Director Ed Loades.
Cherry has been shortlisted by Screen West Midlands with the project Eve.
Eve is the story of one woman's uncomfortable obsession with another. Emotionally unstable as a child and self loathing in adulthood, leads to Eve becoming fixated with another woman. Sarah appears to be the opposite of Eve and everything Eve aspires to. Pushing the boundaries of her obsession to the limits, Eve takes more risks to get closer to Sarah believing that the closer she can get, the more like Sarah she will become. However, Sarah isn't what she appears. A manipulative bully, Sarah confronts the vulnerable Eve one night and subjects her to a terrifying assault. To be filmed in black and white, Eve is a stylised, European film, inspired by the work of Man Ray, Cecil Beaton and the Surrealists. It takes cues from 1930's, 40's films and art and is reminiscent of film noir.
