The Script Factory pioneered the UK’s first script feedback service for screenwriters over 25 years ago. Our reports follow The Script Factory’s widely-adopted house style and are specifically designed to provide the constructive analysis you need to continue developing your Feature Film or TV pilot.

We are delighted to be offering this service once again with a fabulous team of highly trained, insightful and intelligent industry readers.

How it works and FAQ

Who will read my script?

All our script readers have either completed our Script Reading For Film & TV programme to an excellent standard or are graduates of the NFTS Script Development Diploma. They also bring extensive industry experience to the role. All reports are quality controlled by The Script Factory directors.

What feedback will I receive?

Writers will receive a 4-5 page report featuring a brief Synopsis followed by comments on Premise, Structure, Character, Dialogue, Pace and Visual Grammar, rounded off with a clear indication of where the project might sit within the current market and what the priorities for the next stage of development could be.

Unlike other services, our reports do not provide specific suggestions or edits. We respect that you are the writer, your story is unique to you and only you can find the solutions that are authentic to your voice and vision. Our role is to support that vision through crystal clear feedback on how effectively the current choices deliver on your intention. Where we identify potential weaknesses or missed opportunities in the draft, we will provide an explanation of why those elements risk disengaging an audience or fail to exploit the full potential in your dramatic conflict. Our aim is to empower you with the necessary understanding to inspire improvements in your next draft.

What do I need to submit?

For feature scripts we ask that you send us a PDF version of the draft (max 120 pages) and also a brief paragraph detailing your vision for the film.

For TV pilots we ask that along with the pilot script you also submit a pitch document outlining the series idea. It’s important that we assess the pilot episode in light of how it serves to set up the season or show concept. This pitch document can be a simple 1-page outline, a pitch deck or a more detailed series Bible (maximum 15 pages).

What does it cost?

Feature Film Screenplays £175
One-hour TV Pilot ( + series doc) £175
Half-hour TV Pilot (+ series doc) £145

How Long Will It Take?

We aim to get all reports completed and returned within two weeks. All our readers are busy industry professionals so we cannot commit to faster turnarounds.

Will I be able to book a follow up conversation with the reader?

No. Our written reports are a standalone service. If you wish to discuss your project we suggest that you consider booking a script consultation with Charlotte or Justine.

If you love my script, can you help me get it made?

Unfortunately not. We offer this report service purely to provide feedback on the submitted material. The Script Factory cannot offer to present writers and their work to the industry; neither do we option screenplays or serve as producers.

How do I proceed and pay?

Please complete the form below with brief details of your project including the genre. We will ensure that an appropriate reader is available before confirming and requesting your script. You will be issued an invoice via Stripe which we kindly ask to be paid before your materials are sent on to the reader.
