EVERYBODY DIGS BILL EVANS
Wednesday 2nd September 7pm
The Cinema At Selfridges
We are thrilled to announce our next Screen Players Club with a special preview screening of the achingly beautiful jazz film Everybody Digs Bill Evans. After the screening, the film's Berlinale Award winning director Grant Gee will be in conversation with Charlotte, sharing never-before-told stories of bringing this movie to the big screen.
Everybody Digs Bill Evans unfolds over a hot, languid New York Summer when legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans loses his musical soulmate, and thus his ability to play music. Shot in smoky monochome, with occasional pops of 1970’s colour, the film thoroughly inhabits the tumultuous creative torment of this great American musician. Anders Danielsen Lie gives an astonishingly brilliant performances as a man consumed by grief, immersing us completely in his emotional devastation. Also starring Bill Pullman, Laurie Metcalf, Barry Ward and Valene Kane.
We’re especially excited to share this movie because one of our Script Factory alumni, Susan Simnett, is an Executive Producer on the project. Susan said "Supporting this film as an EP means so much to me. It represents everything that I value in filmmaking - meaningful, nuanced, emotionally challenging and exquisitely delicate storytelling. A film that stays with you, that bounces around in your head for days. A film that trusts its audience.”
We can't wait for you to see it.
Join us at the sumptuous Cinema at Selfridges on Wednesday 2nd September at 7.00pm for the screening. And come to the bar earlier, we will be there to say hallo and catch up on your summer news.
