BROKEN ENGLISH

Monday 13th April 6.40pm
The Cinema At Selfridges

Please join us at a special Screen Players Club screening of Broken English, the groundbreaking  docu-portrait of singer, songwriter and legend Marianne Faithfull. We’re thrilled to be joined by the BAFTA nominated filmmakers Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, and the actor George MacKay who plays a leading role in this fictionalised non-fiction film.

A survivor, provocateur, and true original, Marianne spent more than six decades defying expectations — releasing over 35 albums while constantly reinventing herself.

Made with her full involvement, Broken English is an intimate and unflinching exploration of a fractured yet unbreakable life, shaped by fame, creativity and relentless public scrutiny.

The film unfolds within ‘The Ministry of Not Forgetting’ — an imagined, cinematic institution where memory and mythology collide. Featuring a cast led by Tilda Swinton and George MacKay, with powerful, intimate performances from friends and collaborators including Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, Courtney Love and Suki Waterhouse.

Broken English is a genre-defying act of resilience and rebellion. Marianne Faithfull’s final fearless declaration — her defiant swan song.

We set up Screen Players Club to bring together film creatives and cinephile to celebrate and share the love of cinema.   We would love to see you there.

Grab your tickets now - this intimate screening will sell out fast!
